Birmingham City Council awarded a contract to Sova for the provision of a Specialist Intensive Mentoring Support Programme for young males and females aged 10 to 18 years living in South Birmingham who are involved in or at risk of involvement in gangs, offending, and/or violent crime.

The programme includes one-to-one targeted specialist intensive mentoring support over a 15-week period, delivered flexibly on weekdays, evenings, and weekends at locations including the young person's family home, provider premises, Birmingham Youth Offending Services offices, and other community-based venues.

The support aims to divert young people from gang activity and violent crime, promote sustained access to education, training, or employment, and, if appropriate, suitable accommodation to reduce offending and re-offending.

The provider must have capacity to accept a maximum of 20 referrals within the first month after the contract start date.

The contract period runs from 4 December 2017 to 31 March 2018, with renewal options for up to 12 months at 31 March 2018 and 31 March 2019, subject to performance and funding availability.
