The Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office awarded a contract to The George Washington University to lead and manage a research programme consortium under the What Works to Prevent Violence: Impact at Scale Programme.

The contract, valued at £14,956,355, involves designing, implementing, and rigorously evaluating approaches to scaling up violence prevention efforts, piloting new theory-driven prevention approaches, strengthening long-term capability across grantees and governments, and using evidence to influence global responses to end violence against women and girls.

The research component aims to improve understanding of prevalence and drivers of violence against women and girls and its relationship to violence against children, and to broaden the evidence base on effective programmatic interventions.

The contract may be extended by up to 42 months and an additional £7.95 million.
