Wolverhampton City Council awarded a contract to ACCI African Caribbean Community Initiative for the delivery of the MiFriendly Cities Project's pop-up furniture factory.

The project is a 3-year initiative funded by Urban Innovative Actions, an instrument of the European Regional Development Fund, aimed at developing innovative, community-led and sustainable approaches to enhancing the contribution of refugees and migrants across the region.

The provider will operate a furniture recycling and woodwork centre, train and mentor refugees and migrants, coordinate home makeovers in the city, and host repair café sessions.

The provider must ensure safe, clean recycled furniture compliant with legislative and industry standards is supplied to vulnerable households as part of home makeovers, and support the personal development of local migrants.

The contract value is £111,784.
