Award of Contract for Loneliness and Isolation Support Services for Older People in South Gloucestershire

About

South Gloucestershire Council awarded a contract to Age UK for maintaining health and wellbeing in later life, targeting lonely and/or isolated older people across South Gloucestershire.

The service includes providing volunteering opportunities for adults of all ages, enabling older people to 'Love Later Life' through active volunteering, building strong local neighbourhoods, providing Dementia Friends training to new volunteers and making that resource available to other organisations, and offering befriending services (face-to-face and by telephone).

The project aims to improve social isolation, employability, community involvement, activity levels, and financial situations, thereby reducing dependency on health and social care services.

The contract value is £54,900.
