About

Christchurch and East Dorset Council awarded a contract to Hughie Construction Limited for the refurbishment of the Saxon Square public toilet facility in Christchurch Town Centre.

The project involved remodelling the existing building, retaining the roof and ceiling while reconstructing the front wall as brick piers and arches, and constructing new lightweight block walls for individual cubicles.

The adjacent garage/store was converted into accessible toilet facilities.

Finishes included ceramic sanitaryware with automatic hand wash and drying units, ceramic walls and floors, vandal-resistant ceilings with LED panel lighting, and energy-efficient lighting activated by cubicle door operation with electronic locks.

The front wall was finished with self-coloured render.

The contract value was AUD 141,956.
