Reconstruction of Snowdon Aviary and New Monkey House at ZSL
Awarded 31 Aug 2020
About
The Zoological Society of London awarded a contract to CBRE Managed Services Limited for main contractor's construction works to replace the cable and mesh of the existing 1960s Snowdon Aviary while maintaining the original tetrahedral frame.
The scope included replacing all existing planting, managing the planting of new large trees, and constructing a new geodesic gridshell structure adjacent to the aviary to serve as a monkey house for Colobus monkeys, connected by high-level tunnels known as colobridges.
The contractor was also responsible for contractors design packages and all hardscaping.
The contract value was £6,500,000.
