About

The Department for International Development awarded a contract to the British Council for the management of the Supporting Partnerships for Accountability and Civic Engagement (SPACE) programme in Burma/Myanmar.

The programme aimed to improve engagement between government and the people by supporting civil society and local authorities to make public institutions more responsive to service delivery and economic needs.

It comprised four components: fostering partnerships for reform through support to Pyoe Pin; building community capacity to engage with local government in one state and one region; building local government capacity to engage with communities in the same areas; and evidence and learning to identify effective practices.

The contract value was AUD 1,247,888.
