About

Water Services Regulation Authority (Ofwat) awarded a contract to BDO LLP for consultancy services to support the refinement and improvement of ring fence protections for the Appointee and its customers.

The work involved developing a more targeted approach to companies facing financial deterioration to ensure early intervention, and exploring how Ofwat could build on existing work to facilitate a broader, deeper reflection of a company's financial resilience.

This included assessing how to rely less on single triggers and ratings agencies in favor of a more rounded, holistic approach to assessing financial resilience, and considering whether Ofwat's monitoring tools, including the licence, could be developed further.

The supplier was expected to work closely with the Ofwat team, providing detailed input into policy development and engaging in challenge regarding alternative approaches.

The contract value was AUD 36,350.
