Delivery of Respite Room Project for Women Experiencing Homelessness in Camden
Awarded 03 Oct 2021
About
London Borough of Camden Council awarded a contract to Single Homeless Project (SHP) for the delivery of the Respite Room project in Camden, valued at £491,388.
The project was part of the MHCLG Respite Room Trial Programme launched in June 2021, which enabled local authorities to provide emergency accommodation and support in partnership with organisations specialising in homelessness and violence against women and girls (VAWG).
Camden was one of 11 local authorities selected to launch the programme, with projects required to start from 4th October 2021.
The scheme aims to support women with complex needs who are unlikely to approach statutory services or the national domestic violence helpline and who are living on the streets or in precarious situations where they are at risk.
The project is overseen by the Rough Sleeping Team within the Housing Support Services Directorate and enhances the rough sleeping strategy, Routes off The Street (RTS), which seeks to ensure all rough sleepers in the borough receive a service to help them rebuild their lives away from the street.
