Decarbonisation of Southwark District Heating Plantrooms via Aquifer-Fed Heat Pumps
Awarded 31 Mar 2020
About
London Borough of Southwark awarded a contract to Vital Energi utilities Ltd for the decarbonisation of district heating plantrooms through the installation of commercial-scale aquifer-fed heat pumps at three viable sites: Consort, Newington, and Wyndham.
The contract, valued at £6,995,695, follows a feasibility study by Calford Seaden with hydrogeological input from ICAX, which discounted two of five sites.
The project was procured via the Major Works framework (Lot 3 - Heating), and an information day and site visit were held in September, including a demonstration of an aquifer-based water source heat pump at London South Bank University.
