Concept Design of Carbon Garden Pavilion at Kew Gardens
Awarded 21 May 2023
About
Board of Trustees of the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew awarded a contract to Mizzi Studio LTD for the concept design of a Climate Change Pavilion within the proposed Carbon Garden at Kew.
The pavilion's architecture and morphology are rooted in biomimicry of the carbon cycle, predominantly crafted from FSC timber, and sensitively balanced on site.
The design aims to educate visitors about fundamental climate-regulating systems and their destabilisation by human behaviour.
The contract covers concept design and detail drawings up to RIBA stage 3, to be used for the planning application.
The contract value is £22,500.
