Board of Trustees of the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew awarded a contract to Stephen Friedman Gallery for the commission of a large-scale suspended artwork by artist Jeffrey Gibson as part of the October 2023 Queer Nature Festival.

The artwork, to be installed in the Temperate House, was intended to serve as a visually arresting centrepiece for the festival, inspired by Gibson's previous works 'The Spirits are laughing' and 'They Come from Fire', and drawing on his interest in overlooked narratives while embracing historically marginalised identities.

The contract value was £15,000.
