Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service is seeking a supplier for a third-party 24/7/365 monitored lone worker solution, which may be a mobile phone application, a stand-alone device, or a combination, to allow discreet or overt alarm raising and appropriate intervention or escalation to manage risks for staff who work alone. RBFRS currently requires provision for approximately 65 users with flexibility to increase to up to 85 users during the contract period subject to orders. Alarms are monitored by an alarm receiving centre (ARC) staffed 24/7/365 that will initiate the escalation process, and responses must be resolved within formally agreed timescales. Need for equipment is determined by the Head of Service responsible for health and safety via risk assessment, supply is managed by the Health and Safety Team, and individual team managers monitor usage and manage escalation contacts. The solution should be discrete, reliable, robust, simple and intuitive to use with minimum training, and offer a range of devices so staff can select based on their role and lone-working activities.
