Released 11 months ago
About
Sywell Country Park is seeking a supplier for the supply, fabrication and installation of an industrial-grade pond dipping platform at the amphibian pond to provide a safe, durable and accessible structure for visitors, school groups and families. The works require a Grade S355 structural steel frame designed to BS 5950:2000 and the National Structural Steelwork Specification, fabricated and certified to BS EN 1090-1:2009 + A1:2011 Execution Class EXC2. Key elements include PFC beams 200x90x29.7 mm, SHS columns 100x100x6.3 mm (to 1.75 m) and 120x120x10 mm (to 2.5 m), fully welded 10–12 mm connection plates with continuous fillet welds and M16 Grade 8.8 bolts hot-dip galvanised to BS 729, base plates 350x350x12 mm anchored to the existing concrete base with resin bolts (minimum 125 mm embedment) and finished with non-shrink grout. All steelwork must be shot blasted to SA 2.5 or mechanically wire-brushed, hot-dip galvanised prior to delivery and coated with a non-toxic, fish-safe epoxy finish suitable for prolonged underwater exposure applied per manufacturer's instructions. The platform will use open grid grating panels for drainage and slip resistance with optional GRP decking, handrails fitted with Kee Klamp galvanised fittings, and will include infilling an existing stone wall opening on a like-for-like basis to maintain the site's heritage character. All works must be carried out by competent contractors following approved method statements and CDM 2015 guidelines.
This tender is valuable for experienced structural steel fabricators and installation contractors who can deliver BS EN 1090-1 EXC2 fabrication, hot-dip galvanising and application of fish-safe epoxy coatings, and who have experience working on heritage sites and with concrete base anchoring requirements. Key considerations include strict compliance with specified British and EN standards, achieving the required surface preparation and coating for prolonged underwater exposure, correct resin bolt embedment and base plate detailing, and providing approved method statements under CDM 2015.
