The system will be VoIP-based and must include SIP telephony servers (primary and secondary for redundancy), station SIP servers at each of the four HS2 stations (station end devices provided by the HS2 station contractor), voice recording, HMI touchscreens for NICC operations staff and controllers, IP telephony including fallback IP desk phones, equipment room IP phones, tunnel ventilation equipment-room telephony/intercom for high background noise, ruggedised direct-line and keypad phones suitable for trackside and tunnels (telephone instruments suitable for aerodynamic effects at 360 kph), refuge area help points with induction loop, CTI with softphone client and SDK, PSTN connectivity, a Session Border Controller for SIP trunks, a management and maintenance terminal, and a supplied reference system comprising a single SIP server (hardware and software), HMI (including software), VoIP desk phone, refuge help point, ruggedised direct-line/keypad phone, and call logging and recording. All required hardware and software/firmware must be supplied (with certain aspects permitted to be virtualised) and Siemens will provide a quantified equipment list sized for 1,600 end devices across the line of route and specified counts at stations (430 at Euston, 605 at Old Oak Common, 400 at Curzon Street).
