Tender: Food Loss and Waste Hotspot Analysis and Pilot Interventions for Indonesian Rice Supply Chains

About

WRAP is seeking a consultant/team to undertake a food loss and waste hotspot analysis across selected Indonesian rice supply chains, collecting operational data (where feasible: tonnes, value, and data necessary to estimate methane impact) across on-farm, collection points, storage, milling and processing, distribution/transport, retail and household stages; identify root causes of loss and waste; recommend and implement practical, scalable interventions at 1-2 pilot sites (for example milling facilities); and measure post-implementation outcomes to quantify food waste reduction, methane emission co-benefits and operational performance against agreed indicators. The work should engage farmer groups where relevant to investigate plantation-stage practices that contribute to food waste when these do not constitute post-harvest loss, document causes and any unavoidable in-field losses, recommend practical farm-level mitigations linked to post-harvest improvements, and include a scalability plan to demonstrate achievable impact by scaling interventions across the Indonesian rice supply chain.
