Tender: Broseley Town Council Christmas Lights Installation, Maintenance and Dismantling – 2026
Released 7 months ago
About
Broseley Town Council is seeking a supplier for installation, testing, maintenance and removal of the 2026 Christmas lights display in Broseley. Installation testing must begin on 1 November 2026 and all lights must be in working order no later than one week prior to the switch-on event on Saturday 28 November 2026; the contractor must attend the switch-on on 28 November 2026 to manually switch on the lights, after which automatic timers must operate 4pm-10pm weekdays and 4pm-11pm weekends. Work must minimise disruption to vehicular and pedestrian traffic and consider the environment given daytime congestion in Broseley. Required works include electrical testing to current standards, checking all anchor points and pricing any replacements, testing electric feeder pillars, installing and activating 23 sets of pea lights plus one set for the memorial garden fir tree, one set of pea lights to the tree on the square, installing features to memorial garden poles, fitting a 'welcome to Broseley' sign across the high street (Victoria Hall to Bridal Shop), installing festoons to the front of Harwood's building and the butchers' shop, running string lights zig-zagging from the top of Church Street up the high street to the social club, installing two snow-fall column motifs, and later removing all lights. Maintenance requires two scheduled run-throughs during the display and a 24-hour call-out for major faults (including complete motif or string failure, vandalism, storms or road traffic accident); additional call-out charges must be stated and all anchor points tested. Dismantling and removal must occur as soon after 6 January as possible but no later than 12 January each year. All lights and features must be tested during down time and minor repairs completed prior to installation, the contractor must notify Broseley Town Council immediately of any defective items requiring major repair or replacement, and all items must be costed individually.
This tender would suit contractors experienced in festive lighting installation, electrical testing to current standards and providing scheduled checks plus 24-hour call-out maintenance; key considerations include minimising disruption amid known daytime traffic congestion, meeting the testing and switch-on timeline (testing from 1 Nov, operational one week before 28 Nov), complying with testing and anchor-point requirements, and completing dismantling within the 6–12 January window.
