About

The University of Southampton awarded a contract to Laser 2000 UK Limited for the provision of a tunable broadband QC laser system.

The system, valued at £161,642, was procured for the Optoelectronics Research Centre (ORC) to support the MISSION EPSRC programme grant, which focuses on developing Mid-Infrared Silicon Photonic Sensors for healthcare and environmental monitoring.

The laser system is intended to provide a widely tunable mid-IR source with high CW output power and excellent beam pointing control, addressing limitations of existing equipment.

It will be used for research and testing of sensing platforms, and will be based in Building 53 (Mountbatten building) at the Highfield campus.
