The Impact Facility at the University of Kent is seeking a supplier for a High-Speed Spectrometer System to attach to a two-stage light gas gun as part of the ERC-funded PROSPER project led by Dr Penelope Wozniakiewiczs. The facility, which has operated for over 30 years simulating hypervelocity impact events relevant to spacecraft and planetary science, requires the spectrometer to support research into space debris, including development of advanced detectors to better understand small debris, studying how debris shape affects damage and generated ejecta, and examining potential side effects when deorbiting satellites re-enter the atmosphere.
