Supply of Thermogravimetric Analyser and Differential Scanning Calorimeter to University of Sheffield

About

The University of Sheffield awarded a contract to TA Instruments (Division of Waters Ltd) for the purchase of a Thermogravimetric Analyser and Differential Scanning Calorimeter (TG-DSC) for the Department of Materials Science and Engineering.

The instrument is capable of simultaneously analysing heat flow and changes in mass under heating, enabling identification of phase transitions, structural transitions, thermal events such as combustion, significant mass loss events, and volatilisation of elements during heating.

This supports research on novel synthetic routes and kinetic versus thermodynamic processes governing synthesis of functional materials, including Li-ion and Na-ion battery materials, thermoelectrics, piezoelectrics, and future materials for fusion.

The contract value was £46,670.
