Supply of Electron Diffractometers to University of Warwick and University of Southampton

About

The University of Warwick awarded a contract to Rigaku Europe SE for the supply of electron diffractometers as part of a joint procurement with the University of Southampton.

The contract, valued at £1,259,786, covers two dedicated electron diffractometers for high-throughput structural solution using electron diffraction.

These instruments will form part of a national facility in conjunction with the national crystallographic service at Southampton, funded under an Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) grant aimed at kickstarting widespread usage of electron diffraction by the UK crystallographic community.

The instruments are required to integrate with existing X-ray diffraction facilities, be suitable for non-specialist microscopists, and include easy-to-use software for merging datasets from multiple crystals.

The procurement was run as a further competition against the NWUPC High Value Laboratory Equipment Lot 10 Polycrystalline & Single Crystal X-Ray Analysis (LAB3123 NW).
