Supply of Benchtop Next-Generation Sequencing System to University of Southampton
Awarded 17 Jun 2025
About
University of Southampton awarded a contract to Illumina UK, Limited for a next-generation benchtop sequencing system to replace its discontinued short-read platform.
The system maintains compatibility with established short-read, paired-end sequencing-by-synthesis chemistries and data analysis pipelines, while delivering increased throughput and faster turnaround times.
It supports amplicon and whole-genome sequencing, produces up to 15 Gb of data with 2 x 300 bp chemistry, generates up to 50 million reads per run, and retains an average per-base quality score of over 80% higher than Q30 across the entire run.
The contract value is AUD 78,216 and was facilitated via the LAB2010 NE Framework Lot 1 framework direct award call-off.
