About

Newcastle University awarded a contract to Axivity Ltd for the supply of wearable devices to measure bio-physical parameters in patients participating in clinical trials for the EU IDEA-FAST and Mobilise-D projects.

The devices, specifically the AX6 accelerometer data logger, were selected for their ability to measure acceleration and rotational forces, as well as their ease of use and comfort for participants with reduced mobility, dexterity, and cognitive function.

The AX6 features a 6-axis accelerometer, temperature sensor, light sensor, real-time quartz clock, and on-board memory, with configurable sampling rate and range, and can collect data for up to 16 days at 100Hz without recharging.

The contract value was £200,000.
