About

National Physical Laboratory awarded a contract to Rohde & Schwarz UK Ltd for the procurement of a 50 GHz synthesised source.

The equipment is required for the calibration of radiation hazard probes and field strength sensors, replacing a failed 40 GHz Agilent E8257D.

The new signal generator offers a wider frequency range up to 50 GHz, enabling use with a new waveguide system, and can connect to an external pulse generator to provide a pulsed frequency to CW amplifiers.

It features a stable and accurate timebase, high output power to drive a 40 to 50 GHz amplifier, remote control via GPIB and Ethernet, and a 2.4mm female output connector on the rear.

The contract value is AUD 73,055.25.
