About

The University of Birmingham awarded a contract to Bruker UK Limited for the supply and installation of a 1.2 GHz nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectrometer, funded by UKRI as part of an EPSRC-led UK-wide NMR Infrastructure call.

The ultra-high field spectrometer, the highest magnetic field available for NMR, will be installed at the Henry Wellcome Building for Biomolecular NMR Spectroscopy (HWB-NMR) and will support the UK life and physical sciences NMR community.

The equipment is expected to advance scientific understanding in three key areas: the spatial and temporal resolution of biological mechanisms; the structure and function of materials at the atomic level; and the impact of environmental and chemical agents on live cells and organisms.

The contract value is £10,034,238.
