MINISTRY OF DEFENCE awarded a contract to Imperial College of Science, Technology for research to better understand the biological profile of Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate (BMAC) and its potential in developing therapies for fractures at risk of non-union.

The research has three objectives: to evaluate the effect of a single blast wave on the osteogenic potential of BMAC; to analyse the biological profile of BMAC to assess the presence of mesenchymal stem cells and growth factors; and to determine which growth factors are upregulated following blast wave exposure.

The contract value is AUD 30,000.
