About

Department for Education awarded a contract to Liz Flaherty for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Alternative Provision (AP) advisory services.

The adviser provided expertise to advise, challenge, and support at-risk or poor-performing local areas and local area partnerships in developing and implementing robust plans to improve SEND and AP services.

The role involved ensuring improvement pace was appropriate and sustainable, focusing on outcomes for children and young people with SEND, and preparing services for Ofsted inspections.

The adviser supported senior leadership and SEND management teams in addressing weaknesses, worked with practitioners to develop competence, and contributed to formal reviews of progress, making recommendations to the Department for Education's Vulnerable Children's Unit.

Regular written reports were provided.

The contract value was £68,400.
