Provision of Blood Culture Detection Systems to Public Health England
Awarded 28 Aug 2017
About
Public Health England awarded a contract to Becton, Dickinson U.K.
Limited for the provision of blood culture detection systems, including equipment, associated software, media, and consumables, valued at £5,060,000.
The procurement followed a mini-competition under Lot 1 (Diagnostics) of the PHE Microbiology Framework.
The systems support the screening work of PHE's National Infections Service, enabling continued turnaround times to optimise clinical utility of blood culture results, early identification leading to antibiotic sensitivity results, and care for susceptible patient groups such as neonates and the immunocompromised.
The project also delivers significant savings.
