About
Defra Network eTendering Portal awarded a contract to the Institute of Zoology for the analysis of samples from stranded cetaceans collected over the past 10 years, provided free of charge.
The project aimed to provide a more detailed understanding of life history characteristics such as age and reproductive status, and to investigate how UK populations are impacted by known pressures, including PCB concentrations and their link to decreased reproductive health.
The analysis also sought to inform understanding of the causes behind cetacean strandings and identify trends of concern.
The contract value was AUD 25,000.
