UK SHARED BUSINESS SERVICES LTD awarded a contract to University of Bath for research examining the impact of the minimum wage regime on labour market outcomes for young people aged 16–24.

The study focused on three areas: the effect of smaller increases in youth rates between 2010 and 2014, including the October 2012 freeze; longer-term analysis of the change to age 21 for adult rate entitlement in October 2010; and the impact of changes to the education participation age in England.

The research aimed to inform the Low Pay Commission's assessment of youth minimum wage rate relativities and scope.

The contract value was £47,976.
