About

Surrey County Council awarded a contract to Smidsy Ltd (Beryl) for the Guildford E-Bike Hire Scheme, a pilot on-street public e-bike hire concession delivered in collaboration with Guildford Borough Council and the University of Surrey.

The scheme aims to promote cycling as an attractive, accessible, and practical mode of transport, reduce carbon emissions and improve air quality by decreasing car journeys and congestion in and around Guildford town centre, and generate revenue without risk to support a sustainable self-sustaining scheme.

The contract, valued at AUD 1,045,664, grants Smidsy Ltd (Beryl) permitted rights to operate and maintain an e-bike public hire scheme in and around Guildford town centre and on the University of Surrey campus.
