About

Manchester City Council awarded a contract to University of Central Lancashire for the provision of 21 spaces on a Level 5 Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) course, delivered through a blended face-to-face and virtual method.

The contract, valued at AUD 31,500, was funded by the North West Regional Strategic Migration Partnership (SMP) using a grant from the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) aimed at increasing English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) capacity across the region, with a focus on Ukrainian refugees.

The course targeted participants from Lancashire and Cumbria, areas with high Ukrainian sponsorships but low ESOL provision, and prioritized recruitment of individuals with lived experience of forced migration.
