Fabrication and Installation of 'White Palm' Public Sculpture in Cleethorpes
Awarded 20 Sep 2020
About
North East Lincolnshire Council awarded a contract to setWorks Ltd for the detailed design, fabrication, and installation of 'White Palm', a 22m tall white artificial palm tree sculpture with a black ground covering referencing its shadow at noon on the summer solstice, for the North Promenade in Cleethorpes.
The project, proposed by artist Wolfgang Weileder, includes ground spotlights for nighttime illumination and a shadow material partly made from recycled non-organic material collected from Cleethorpes' beaches.
The supplier will work closely with the artist, Lead Design Team, and the client (NELC/ENGIE) to finalize the design specification.
The contract value is £240,000.
