About
The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy awarded a contract to Bosch Thermotechnology Ltd, Enertek International Ltd., and SOL|Dpower S.p.A for the development of commercial hydrogen appliances, boiler systems, and ancillary components under the SBRI competition as part of the Hy4Heat programme.
The competition was divided into five lots: Catering and Production Heating, Dry Space Heating, Wet Space Heating, Combined Heat and Power, and Ancillary System Components.
The projects aimed to demonstrate the safe use of hydrogen as a fuel for commercial catering, heating, and hot water, providing critical evidence on end-use application, safety, in-use emissions, and functionality.
The total potential value was up to £4.9 million (excl.
VAT), with up to 27 innovation projects funded.
The contract value was AUD 2,324,377.
The competition ran until March 2021 and aimed to deliver prototype appliances that demonstrate feasibility, with options for safety-certified or fully certified prototypes.
