Development and Delivery of Canal Street Art Programme and Street Art Strategy in Thamesmead
Awarded 09 Mar 2020
About
Peabody awarded a contract to Moniker Projects for the development and delivery of a street art programme and an outline street art strategy in Thamesmead.
The project involved commissioning high-quality street art on nine underpasses along Thamesmead's 7km canal network, celebrating local nature, wildlife, and communities while providing signage and wayfinding for pedestrians and cyclists.
The programme built on a previous 2018 commission by Mark McClure and responded to the wider history of street art in Thamesmead by local artists such as Trust Icon.
The appointed organisation also developed an outline street art strategy setting out opportunities and approaches for commissioning further works.
The research and development phase took place in March/April 2020, followed by painting and installation in May/June 2020.
The contract value was £55,050.
