Design for Removal of Crude Oil from Cape of Good Hope Underground Caverns
Awarded 09 Mar 2020
About
The Oil and Pipelines Agency awarded a contract to Engenda Group Ltd for the design to remove crude oil from the Cape of Good Hope underground caverns.
The site consists of two caverns with a total volume of approximately 500,000m3, located 1km from the main site, containing around 2,500-3,000m3 of crude oil.
The caverns are rented from a local company, and the project aims to return them to the landlords to reduce the OPA's financial requirements.
Although the site is not a CoMAH establishment due to the stored volume, all standards, procedures, and safety management processes are to reflect Relevant Good Practice.
The contract value is £170,469.71.
