About

Defra Network eTendering Portal awarded a contract to Jackson Civil Engineering Ltd for the construction of a fish pass at the Holme Sluices barriers at Colwick Country Park.

The contract value is AUD 8,085,900.

The project addresses the largest barrier to fish passage in the Midlands, where fish are unable to migrate upstream due to water velocities under the sluice gates.

The fish pass will enable the Environment Agency to meet obligations under the Water Framework Directive (WFD), the Salmon and Freshwater Fisheries Act (SAFFA), and the Eel Regulations, contributing to WFD objectives and restoring fish passage to the River Trent, unlocking 60km of upstream habitat.

It also supports the regeneration of the River Trent and community education through the Trent Gateway Project.
