About

Old Bolsover Town Council awarded a contract to Independent Memorial Inspection for the cleaning and maintenance of a Grade II listed war memorial.

The work involved low-pressure steam cleaning (DOFF style) at 150 degrees to remove algae, organic growth, and paint without damaging the stone, using a chemical-free and environmentally friendly method.

All pointing was undertaken using lime mortar.

The project included detailed documentation, post-cleaning monitoring, and public communication to mitigate impacts on heritage values.

The contract value was £3,000.
