About

Oldham Council awarded a contract to Recclesia Ltd for the restoration of the Failsworth War Memorial, a Grade II listed heritage structure originally erected in 1923.

The memorial features a slender stone shaft carved from a single block, decorated with inset glazed tiles and topped with a gilded victory figure.

The stonework has deteriorated, and the shaft was broken into three pieces during maintenance in the 1970s.

The project involves conservation repairs to the stone and glazed tiles, with replacement by replica elements if conservation is not possible.

The contract value is £50,648.
