Catchment Walkover Surveys for Cheshire Meres SSSI and Ramsar Sites
Awarded 02 Oct 2016
About
The Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs awarded a contract to APEM Ltd for catchment walkover surveys of inflows into the Cheshire Meres (Bagmere, Chapel Mere, Hatch Mere, Oak Mere, and Quoisley Meres), which are designated as Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and Ramsar sites, with Oak Mere also a Special Area of Conservation (SAC).
The surveys aimed to identify sources of nutrients, fine sediments, and other pollutants to support actions improving the meres' conservation and Water Framework Directive (WFD) status, as all are failing water quality objectives for SSSI favourable condition.
The contract value was AUD 10,787.25.
