About

The Department for Work and Pensions awarded a contract to The Royal National Institute for Deaf People (RNID) for accessibility audits of four DWP sites, including two Job Centre Plus variations, one hub, and one service centre, to assess accessibility for people who are deaf, have hearing loss, or tinnitus.

The contract, valued at AUD 20,350, involved RNID conducting approximately three-hour site visits at each location with a team of two specialists—one technology specialist and one specialist in accessible workplaces—evaluating assistive technology, working environment suitability, acoustic quality, and other accessibility factors.

RNID provided recommendations for site improvements, best practice guidance for the entire DWP estate, and advice on modifications to existing DWP design guidance and GPA guidance.
