The Council is seeking a specialist contractor to carry out window (core) sampling through the Hunstanton Coastal Defence promenade deck to confirm the presence and extent of voids and to inform void infilling for the capital works project. Window samples are required every 25 m along the 1.5 km promenade, some concrete window samples will be sent for laboratory testing to confirm concrete strength for promenade design, and pencil cores will be taken at 2–3 locations on the wave-return wall (Sections E, C and B) to confirm concrete strength of that structure. Works are anticipated to commence in February 2026 and the sampling outcomes will be used to support detailed structural engineering design due to start in April 2026.
