Network Rail is seeking a supplier for the supply, delivery, installation, maintenance, repair and associated support services for 24/7-rated ergonomic chairs under a national framework to primarily supply Signallers, Electrical and Route Controllers who work long VDU-focused shifts. The framework will appoint a single national supplier to provide a managed core catalogue (national delivery across England, Wales and Scotland), installation and assembly (free on larger orders), asset management including annual maintenance and repair under warranty and beyond, removal and responsible reuse or recycling of redundant chairs, catalogue access via Network Rail Oracle iProcurement, and ongoing account management, reporting and continuous improvement. Suppliers must offer a limited core range (maximum four standardised models) covering a core 24/7 chair, an enhanced chair, a chair suitable for users with musculoskeletal disorders and a bariatric option, with chairs suitable for continuous 24-hour use and compliance with BS 54592 (or ISO equivalent) and FIRA FS 055 certification or demonstrated equivalence. Key requirements include accommodation from 5th percentile female to 95th percentile male anthropometrics, high durability, intuitive adjustment controls, a minimum 5-year 24/7 manufacturer or supplier warranty, availability of samples for trials, and demonstrable sustainability and ethical sourcing (Modern Slavery Act compliance, traceability of manufacturing, environmental management such as ISO 14001 or equivalent, and circular economy practices). The contract is anticipated to start June 2027 with an initial five-year term and optional extensions, will use NR1 (MT) Goods and Non Construction Services Framework with call-offs via NR01(S) Purchase Orders, fixed pricing for an initial period with controlled indexation, and the core catalogue is expected to meet approximately 95% of demand.
