Tender: Supply, Design and Installation of Fire Detection and Suppression System for Turbine Hall (Four Turbine Areas)
Released 3 months ago
About
Contractor is sought to provide a complete engineered fire detection and suppression system for four individual turbine areas within the Turbine Hall, including all design services, site surveys and risk assessment, supply of detectors, control panels, suppression equipment, pipework, nozzles, cylinders, pumps, valves, cabling, containment and ancillary equipment, installation, interfaces with existing fire alarm and plant control systems where required, factory and site acceptance testing, commissioning, certification, as-built drawings, manuals, training, warranty and proposals for ongoing inspection and maintenance. The tender assumes each turbine has an approximate protected area of 15 m² (indicative total ~60 m²) but requires tenderers to verify dimensions, access constraints, hazard locations and coverage during site survey and to base final design on confirmed measurements and risk assessment. The design must address credible oil-release scenarios (pressurised leakage, dripping, pooling, spray, atomised mist and contact with hot steam pipework), provide reliable early detection in dark and high-temperature conditions (preferred infrared flame detection or equivalent), manage false-alarm sources, define zoning and cause-and-effect logic, and deliver a suppression solution suitable for oil-fire risks (preferred water mist or equivalent) that minimises collateral damage and integrates required controls, manual releases, warnings and any ventilation or plant shutdown actions. All works must comply with applicable UK legislation, regulations and recognised standards current at tender and installation (including the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, BS 5839-1, applicable BS EN 54 standards, relevant suppression standards such as BS EN 15004, BS 8489 or BS EN 12845 where applicable, BS 7273, Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, CDM Regulations 2015 and Electricity at Work Regulations 1989), and contractors must demonstrate proven experience, third-party certification, competent personnel and project-specific risk and method statements.
