Tender: Snape Maltings Concert Hall Upgrades — Acoustic, Technical, Accessibility, Heating and Solar PV Works
Released 8 months ago
About
Contractor needed to deliver various building and services works at Snape Maltings Concert Hall, including acoustic and technical upgrades, accessibility improvements, internal alterations and energy/renewables interventions. Works include acoustic treatment to the Concert Hall with retractable banners; performance technical equipment upgrades and replacement (stage and house lighting, rigging systems, assisted listening); roof covering replacement and insulation on the south, east and west faces and high‑level maintenance, repair and strengthening of the “bluffs”; refurbishment of WCs and brickwork fabric repairs; ventilation improvements including a new air handling unit and new lighting; refurbishment of two existing lifts and installation of one new platform lift; and remodelling of the Discovery Centre for future exhibition space (audience seating improvements CH3 are a separate project with a direct interface). Heating and renewables works comprise consolidation of Energy Centre boilers with new district heating and cooling pipework, photovoltaic panels to the Concert Hall lower south roof, the Hoffmann building roof and adjacent flat roofs/Winch Gallery, and a new site‑wide building management system. The works have Planning and Listed Building Consent. Project consultants listed include Gardiner & Theobald (Project Manager/Contract Administrator), de Matos Ryan (Architect), Price & Myers (Structural/Civil Engineer), Ingleton Wood (Building Services Engineer), Charcoalblue (Theatre Specialist & Acoustician), Bristow (QS), Bidwell (Planning Consultant) and Untitled Practice (Landscape Architect).
This could be ideal for contractors experienced in listed‑building and theatre projects with capability in acoustic and technical fit-outs, lift works and renewable energy systems. Key considerations include coordination between specialist disciplines, integration with a separate CH3 seating project, and working within Listed Building consent constraints.
