Tender: Residential Respite (Replacement) Care Beds for Older People (65+) – Worcestershire County Council (Dynamic Purchasing System)
Released about 1 year ago
About
Worcestershire County Council is seeking providers to join a Dynamic Purchasing System to supply residential (without nursing) replacement care, also known as respite care or short breaks, for older people aged 65+. The provision will deliver planned short-term placements (bookable up to four weeks in advance) and emergency short-term placements for urgent situations such as breakdown of a home care package or change in the person’s needs. The council intends to access 30–35 residential replacement care beds at multiple locations across the county, aiming to have beds available in each of Worcestershire’s six district council areas, with beds purchased on a spot basis. Providers must be registered with the Care Quality Commission for 'Accommodation for persons requiring nursing or personal care' and/or 'Treatment of disease, disorder or injury' and hold a rating of 'Requires Improvement' or higher by the tender closing date. The DPS will run for three years with contracts anticipated to start in May 2023; Round 1 closes 29 March 2023 at 12:00 midday and subsequent rounds will be opened as required.
This could be ideal for residential care home providers registered with CQC who can offer non-nursing short-term placements and have capacity across Worcestershire; key considerations include meeting the CQC registration and rating requirement, the need to provide both planned bookings (up to four weeks' notice) and urgent emergency placements, the expectation to supply 30–35 beds across the county's six districts, and that beds will be purchased on a spot basis under a three-year DPS starting May 2023.
