The Department of Infrastructure (Isle of Man Railways) is seeking a contractor to refurbish and paint traction wire support poles, pole arms and associated fittings on the Manx Electric Railway during the closed season between November 2026 and 5 March 2027. The estate includes a mixture of galvanised steel and painted mild steel poles, with varying amounts of rust on the mild steel items. All operatives must hold a valid Personal Track Safety (PTS) qualification (training is provided free by the Department). Attached documentation consists of: Quick Quote - Painting of Traction Wire Support Poles; Traction Pole Painting Primer; Traction Pole Painting Top Coat. Expressions of interest are open until noon (12:00) on 25 September 2026 and the deadline for submissions is noon (12:00) on 2 October 2026. These Quick Quote competitions are subject to the Isle of Man Government Standard Terms & Conditions for Goods and/or Services.

This could suit contractors experienced in rail infrastructure painting and metal refurbishment who can supply PTS-qualified operatives (or use the free training). Key considerations are the mixed substrates (galvanised and rusted mild steel) requiring appropriate surface preparation and coatings, the limited closed-season programme (Nov 2026–5 Mar 2027), and compliance with Isle of Man Government standard terms.
