HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) is seeking a supplier for an innovation-led proof of concept to build, test and evaluate a working technical demonstrator that explores how emerging technologies, richer transaction data and integrations across banking, payments, fintech and software ecosystems could simplify and improve accuracy within Income Tax Self Assessment (ITSA). The PoC is intended to generate evidence and learning rather than deliver a live service, supports HMRC's Transformation Roadmap and Strategic Approach to Third Party Software, and will explore how ecosystem integrations and better data can reduce customer administrative effort, improve visibility of tax obligations and help customers get their tax right first time while building on Making Tax Digital foundations. Suppliers may bid independently or in partnership, and HMRC anticipates participation from consortia involving banks, payment providers, fintechs and accounting software providers alongside SMEs.
