UK Shared Business Services Ltd (UK SBS) is seeking a supplier for a Phase 1 study to assess safety and risk considerations for deploying up to 800 W AC mains output plug-in batteries in the UK, with the aim of informing technical standards adaptations and assessing the feasibility of safe plug-in batteries for domestic use. The study must evaluate electrical and fire safety risks and develop a test protocol, in consultation with relevant stakeholders, that considers a relevant set of installation configurations such as individual plug-in batteries, plug-in batteries DC-coupled to plug-in solar with a single hybrid inverter, multiple plug-in batteries DC-coupled in series, and multiple plug-in batteries DC-coupled in parallel, with tests focused on the standalone plug-in products and/or the plug-in battery to plug-in solar interface rather than the wider domestic environment; bids are due Wednesday 7 October 2026 at 11:00.
