Released 11 months ago
About
Kent County Council is seeking a supplier for new arrangements to process and dispose of organic waste collected at kerbside and deposited at Household Waste Recycling Centres, with services to commence on 1 April 2026. The contract covers an overall estimated volume of circa 95,000 tonnes per annum split into three regional operational lots (West Kent ~35,953 tpa; Mid Kent ~34,390 tpa; East Kent ~23,811 tpa) and bidders may submit for one, multiple or all lots. Providers must hold appropriate permitting, planning permissions and health and safety standards, operate an electronic weighbridge to provide weigh-loader transaction data, maintain robust contingency plans for facility or plant unavailability, accept blended organic waste and food waste (subject to legislation and collection methods), and supply regular reporting on tonnage processed, contamination rates and recycling/recovery outcomes. The initial term is five years with options to extend for a further five years, and the estimated contract value is based on the full potential ten-year term.
